Dear students, parents and teachers!
Youth centres of Alutaguse County have rearranged their work due to the present complicated situation in our country and rest of the world. Nevertheless our organisations still offer interesting activities and share important information on forthcoming events.

In addition to teachers and parents, the current situation is stressful for children. The following tips are great for sending to schoolchildren aged 8-15 who are currently distance studying.
Maetaguse Basic School continues studies as usual, only from distance with the help of digital devices. Our work is based on the usual lesson plan and so far everything has gone well because we have experience from previous digital learning days. Both students and teachers take their job responsibilities very seriously.
WE can manage!
From March 9 to 13 there was the mother tongue week in our school. The whole school suggested the most beautiful words in Estonian. Writer Andrus Kivirähk visited our school too and read aloud his fascinating stories. After that students asked a lot of questions. In the competition were the best Jordan, Liisi, Allan, Sander and Anette. Congratulations to them!
The most beautiful Estonian word in the opinion of the school family was ema(mother). Thanks to all participants!
On the 4th of March grades 1 and 5, and grade 8 could play games organised by non-profit organisation named Enterprise Village. Younger students played a game called Enterprising Family and the game meant for older students was called Enterprising Citizen.
The second week of March we celebrate mother tongue week.
On Monday our school family members are asked to write down what is in their opinion the most beautiful word in the Estonian language, and at the end of the day, the most beautiful word is chosen.
On Tuesday, there is a poetry-reading contest for grades 4 to 9 in the auditorium.
On Wednesday there is a within school Estonian language competition for grades 4 to 9.
On Thursday we have a visitor who is a well known Estonian writer Andrus Kivirähk.
TORE is a non-profit youth organisation that works with students and schools in order to help to develop and better young people’s social skills.
National school holiday was from the 24th of February until the 1st of March. School house was closed on Friday, 28th of February.
The Ministry of Education and Research recommends schools and other educational institutions to follow information by the Health Board of Estonia in regarding to the corona virus outbreak. At the moment, the situation does not need extraordinary measures in schools, but the Ministry recommends to pay more attention to the prevention of diseases.
