Ethnic Mosaic 05. November sekretar

A group of zither players from our school took part in a folk culture festival called Let’s Make Music, the performances of which were part of a project called Ethnic Mosaic 2019. The event was held on October 30th  in Jõhvi Vene Põhikool (Jõhvi Russian Basic School).

Our students who sang and played the small zithers were Marta Jakobson, Roosi Avel, Evelin Padda, Marie-Eliise Hardõkainen, Cristofer Haugas, Jegor Buśujev, Roz Mariel Spiridonova and Karol Raidma. They also performed a runic song created by one of our students- Karol Raidma. Mäetaguse students also performed a song called Kaaratsimm and a collective song by J.Tuksam Meil on elu keset metsa (We live among the forests). In addition to small zithers our performers took along two cajons (box-shaped percussion instruments) which were played by Roz Mariel and Jegor.

The festival had a varied programme - there were songs, dances, instrument ensembles and pianists. The participants were from Sillamäe Vanalinna Kool (Sillamäe Oldtown School), Maleva Basic School, Tammiku Basic School, Club Ahtme, Ahtme Art School, Jõhvi Music School and Jõhvi Russian Basic School.

Music teacher Anu Kaljusaar sends big thanks to the organisers and, together with students, awaits new meet ups.
